Oral Health

When many people hear “oral health,” they likely think of not having cavities or tooth decay. But good oral health means not having any diseases present in your mouth. You may be surprised to learn this, but diseases in the mouth are far more dangerous than gum disease or gingivitis – it can lead to oral cancer!

Oral cancer is a potentially deadly disease that needs to be treated immediately. As such, it is important to attend all of your scheduled dental appointments and follow-up exams. Every time you visit The Smile Designer of Spring, Dr. Idriss and her team will look for anything of concern.

While you may think you’re just having your teeth cleaned, we are examining your oral condition, as well. Since diseases in the mouth need to be caught early for treatment to be successful, it’s important to get your mouth and teeth checked regularly.

If you believe you are overdue an oral health exam, call The Smile Designer of Spring right away. We will be more than happy to help you get back on track.

What Is Oral Health?

Oral health is the overall status and condition of your mouth. This includes:

  • Tongue
  • Gums
  • Teeth
  • Lips
  • Jaw

If there are any signs of concern in any of these areas, Dr. Idriss will develop a treatment plan to improve your oral health.

You can do your part to maintain good oral health by brushing and flossing at home daily. However, you need to visit your dentist regularly to ensure optimal oral health. We have years of experience and advanced equipment combined to clean your teeth better than what you can get from home dental care.

Checking for Disease

It is advised that you visit the dentist at least twice every year. This allows us to thoroughly check your mouth and teeth for anything out of the ordinary.

During your visits, we will be happy to provide you with educational information on home dental care. This will help you maintain a healthier smile between visits to the dentist.
