What Is Implant Dentistry?

How It Works
Patients getting dental implants will need at least two surgeries. The first surgical procedure involves implanting metal posts in your jawbone. These posts stay hidden under your gum line until your second surgery. Following your first surgery, you will need to heal for 3 to 6 months.
When you are fully healed, Dr. Idriss will have you come back for your final surgical procedure. During this time, your gums will be safely lifted to expose the metal posts. Then, special extension pieces are attached to the metal posts.
It is in these extensions that your dental implants are permanently affixed. Following another healing process – one that is much shorter – you will be able to enjoy the full benefits of your new dental implants.
